International Overdose Awareness Day
International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event dedicated to raising awareness about overdose and reducing the stigma associated with drug-related deaths. It serves as a platform to remember those who have lost their lives to overdose, support their families and friends, and promote education and prevention efforts. The day emphasizes the importance of compassion, understanding, and community action to help save lives and inform public attitudes towards substance use and overdose. Each year we host an event in our community to honour this important day.
Dine with Us
In 2025 we took a different approach to International Overdose Awareness Day. Instead of our typical “farmer’s market style” booth set up- we invited you to come dine with us. We dedicated a portion of our budget to feeding the community and invited our community partners to host tables instead of setting up booths. We booked Tacosaurus and Rolled West Coast to serve up tacos and ice cream and called the community of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows to our table. At each dining table there sat one empty purple chair- a reminder of those who are missing from dinner tables in our community. We hosted conversations exploring grief and loss, discussing substance use, harm reduction, mental health needs, and the supports and services available in our area. We are grateful to everyone who came out to dine with us- and hope to see you all and more next year!
