Supporting Men’s Mental Health

Men are dying.

In early 2023 we were reviewing local and provincial statistics and noticing a trend- men are dying. Men consistently represent about 75% of the deaths caused by toxic drug poisonings in our community. As men’s mental health month approached, we correlated the evidence of losses in our community and a known men’s mental health crisis in Canada.

Out of this evidence- the concept of a Show & Shine was born. The thought process was simple- men need help, men like cars. While we know that isn’t always true, a Car show felt like a simple way to reach some men in our community. Each year the event has grown, giving our community a chance to connect, reflect and grow too.
