Dine with Us

On August 31st over 100 people joined us in Memorial Peace Park for our “Dine with Us“ event. The day marked International Overdose Awareness Day and honoured the lives lost in our community due to toxic drug poisonings. We are grateful to our community partners, dignitaries, performers, vendors, peers and to everyone from the community who joined us!
Socktober

Falls arrival means it’s time for our Annual Socktober Sock Drive! Stay tuned to find out where collection bins are located! From October 1-31st socks will be collected throughout the community and then distributed to outreach teams and community hubs for folks in need in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
Donation

We proudly presented a cheque for $1308.50 to the Family Education and Support Centre to help fund their Men’s mental health programs. The funds were raised at our annual STORM Show & Shine event- which was also announced as a finalist for the 2025 Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Alist for the category of Favourite Charitable event!
Save the date!

Save the date- November 21st is booked for our third annual Speaking Through the STORM event! This TED-talk inspired event features keynote speakers, food offerings and a panel discussion. With this event we are calling the community in to an important conversation- to learn about the impacts of this crisis, reframe our thinking about the issues and work together to find unique solutions to this complex issue. Stay tuned for more details!

Lindsey Hansen

PEER COORDINATOR
Lindsey first engaged with our team when she attended our IOAD event in 2024. After that she hit the ground running- joining our peer team, leadership team and outreach team. In May of 2025 we were thrilled to offer Lindsey the role of Peer Coordinator. Lindsey brings to the table her lived experience with substance use, a young persons perspective, and a continued thirst for knowledge as she pursues her education in Social Work.
Meagan Van Barneveld

PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE
Meagan is our dedicated public health nurse for the toxic drug response. She first began working with ST.O.R.M midway through 2022. Within her first month Meagan was chairing meetings and planning events. Meagan brings local and provincial statistics to the table to help inform the work we do. Meagan’s kind heart, hardworking nature and inclusive approach makes her the perfect person to fill this essential role.
Jerrica Hackett

PROJECT COORDINATOR
Jerrica joined the team late in 2022, and instantly found balance working with Meagan. Jerrica’s background in Corrections brings a unique perspective to work we do. Jerrica’s hometown is Maple Ridge, so she is particularly passionate about building a safer, kinder and more resilient community. She enjoys sharing innovative and unique ideas to find different ways connect with the community.
